Book of Miriam is the new album from The Black Cat Bones, a multi-genre conglomerate of like-minded music makers from Gauteng, South Africa. Andre Kriel, Kobus de Kock, Gareth Bunge & Casey Rothman forms part of the core founded in 2007 and are regularly accompanied by an array of the country's most talented collaborates and guest artists. The band's captivating performances and diverse repertoire put them in a class of their own as they evolve from sub-culture champions to a group that’s adored nationwide by a constantly expanding, loyal following from all walks of life. They are recognised for their hard work ethic and respected among their peers as one of the most driven musical outfits in the country.

“Although we’ve included the Miriam Makeba track ‘Quit it’ on the album, it’s in no means a tribute to her but rather an ode to all women. Miriam, therefore, is our epitome of all women. The soulful Motown direction is something that we’ve always tinkered with in the live performance arena but never really in the studio. When the label suggested that we try our hand at it we jumped at the opportunity and low and behold it turned out to be right up our alley. We’ve obviously retained some of the traditional Bones roots, but this time around opened ourselves up to an array of genres and styles which we’ve never had the confidence to pursue before. This is by far the most honest album we’ve done to date.” – Andre Kriel, guitarist.
